Irish Soda Bread

It's one of the most missed flavours of home - fresh soda bread. There's nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked bread, especially when it's Irish soda bread.

Here's our recipe for quick and easy Irish Soda Bread:


1 cup white flour

1 cup brown self-raising flour

1 cup buttermilk

1 tsp biocarbonate soda

1 tsp salt


  1. Pre-heat your oven to 200c
  2. Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl
  3. Create a well and gradually add in the buttermilk, stirring with a flat wooden spoon
  4. Bring together as much as possible in the bowl
  5. Move mixture to a lightly floured surface
  6. Knead for 2 minutes
  7. Move onto baking tray once combined
  8. With a sharp flat knife trace a cross over the bread
  9. Bake for 30minutes until the bottom feels hollow
  10. Leave to cool down on an iron rack
